Two morning television appearances, two radio interviews, several newspaper articles contributed to the success of an October appearance at the Novi Home and Garden Show. The media coverage helped boost traffic in the Life-Changing Products booth and at talks about cool new products given several times a day.
The highlight may have been an early Sunday morning interview with the enthusiastic Koco McAboy of WDIV, channel four in Detroit. After a tour of the booth, Koco selected the products she wanted to feature and did a great job relaying the benefits to viewers. Thankfully, the robots cooperated with the demo.
The always entertaining Inside Outside Guys invited me once again to talk about trends in the home products market and the products that I brought to the show. I told them that it was interesting how new smart products often do two or more things, like the Gate deadbolt that you can open remotely and acts like an intercom allowing you to talk to the person at the door. New thermostats are about to hit the market that are also smoke alarms and security cameras. “Maybe one day we’ll have one device on the outside of the home, and another on the inside,” said I.
Newspaper coverage was especially gratifying. A preview article in the Detroit Free Press focused on the high-tech products in the interactive exhibit. An article in the Oakland Press not only provided a rundown of the products in the exhibit but mentioned my new book will be coming out in March. We Love Ann Arbor also covered the appearance.
