A prime location on the show floor, coupled with two broadcast appearances, helped make the first Akron appearance for the Life-Changing Products Display a big success. The 25th Annual Akron Home and Garden Show is run by the local home builders association.
The fun started with an appearance on Live at Lakeside, a morning news show done by Cleveland’s NBC affiliate. Aibo, Sony’s robot dog, did his job captivating the anchors. They were so enamored by the dog that they tried to take him home. No way! The setting for the studio, on the shores of Lake Erie, was spectacular.
Later that day I did an in-depth video interview for the Akron Buzz, which was a cool experience in its own way. For that appearance, I journeyed to a small video production facility in a non-descript shopping center north of Akron. The bearded host, who was later spotted flying a drone over the show floor, asked several great questions that took in-depth responses.
Many people who came out to the show, at the John S. Knight Center, had seen one of these appearances, which stoked their interest in the products on display. The show was set up so that the exhibit was the first thing show visitors saw. It made a great first impression. In addition to having great displays of building products, this show does a great job of attracting local crafts vendors. The pickles were to die for.
